Was There An Occasion, During Your Military Or Civilian Life, When Your Military Training Proved Invaluable In Overcoming A Difficult Situation?
Yes, 3xs, … in my boot camp training .. I was taught basic 1st aid in 1976 … and later on in my life, I unchoked my foster dad from choking on a piece of steak two different times … I did the Heimlich maneuver on him … once I got in the right place and in position, I performed h. m. and he expelled the steak piece … God rest his soul now … that was in 1986 and 1987 respectively …
Next of all I saved a man’s life near Orange Heights, Fla. … he hit a power/utility pole, and a hot electric wire was on his car and off a busy 2-lane rd at that time SR 26 in Alachua County… at that time I worked for an electric utility co. in Bradford/Clay counties, FL. area … I went to telephone accident in and came back a .5 mi away fm him and a fla trooper was there stopping him to not get out of car, and as the electric wire was still hot … that trooper and I, both got credit in saving that man … God bless that trooper, the man, then … thank God for that training from the Army .. $$ not wasted, and training and instincts survived, and that was in 1988 .. 🙂 ..
